Lotte Group announced on the 13th that Chairman Shin Dong-bin hosted an event to mark the 15th anniversary of the establishment of 'Asia Society Korea,' the Korean branch of the Asia Society, a private diplomatic organization, in Busan and carried out activities to attract the Busan Expo.
Chairman Shin celebrated the establishment of Asia Society Korea for two days with ambassadors to Korea from 30 countries. He visited the North Port of Busan, a candidate site for the Expo.
This commemorative event was supported by Asia Society Korea sponsors such as Hyosung and GS Mbiz, along with Busan Mayor Park Hyung-Joon.
Established in 2007 under the leadership of Chairman Shin, Asia Society Korea, a private diplomatic organization, has been trying to enhance its understanding of Asia and expand cultural and diplomatic exchanges based on close cooperation with embassies in each country.
Asia Society Korea dealt with issues and pending issues encompassing politics, economy, security, society, and culture with experts from various fields under the theme of international relations and the future of the Korean Peninsula.
Chairman Shin and his ambassadors to Korea visited the Naval Operations Command this morning to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Korean War Armistice and participate in a maritime memorial ceremony and a wreath-laying ceremony to mark the fallen soldiers. Attendees boarded the Hansando, the first dedicated training ship for the Republic of Korea Navy. They had a moment of silence and dedication to the soldiers who died in the war.
Afterward, Chairman Shin visited Busan Port North Port, a candidate site for the Expo. Busan Port North Port has been with Busan Development for 147 years. It is considered the best place to host the Expo as it has a three-dimensional transportation network that can simultaneously utilize the advantages of inland and sea.
Chairman Shin Dong-bin toured the Expo PR Center and candidate sites with Cho Yu-Jang, head of the Expo 2030 Promotion Headquarters. He promoted the charms of Busan and its capacity to host the Expo to ambassadors from 30 countries.

롯데그룹은 신동빈 회장이 부산에서 민간외교단체 아시아소사이어티(Asia Society)의 한국 지부 '아시아소사이어티 코리아' 설립 15주년 기념 행사를 주관하고 부산엑스포 유치 활동을 펼쳤다고 13일 밝혔다.
신 회장은 30개국 주한 대사들과 함께 이틀간 아시아소사이어티 코리아의 설립을 축하하고 엑스포 개최 후보지인 부산항 북항을 찾았다.
이번 기념 행사에는 박형준 부산시장과 함께 효성, GS엠비즈와 같은 아시아소사이어티 코리아 후원사가 행사를 지원했다.
지난 2007년 신 회장 주도로 설립된 민간외교단체 아시아소사이어티 코리아는 각국 대사관들과의 긴밀한 협력관계를 바탕으로 아시아에 대한 이해 증진 및 문화적·외교적 교류 확대를 노력을 이어오고 있다.
아시아소사이어티 코리아에서는 국제 관계와 한반도의 미래를 주제로 다양한 분야의 전문가들과 함께 정치, 경제, 안보, 사회, 문화를 아우르는 이슈와 현안을 다뤘다.
신 회장과 주한 대사들은 이날 오전 해군작전사령부를 방문해 한국전쟁 정전 70주년을 기념하고 전몰장병을 추모하는 해상추모제와 헌화식에 참여했다. 참석자들은 대한민국 해군 최초의 전용 훈련함인 한산도함에 탑승해 전몰장병에 대해 묵념하고 헌화의 시간을 가졌다.
이후 신 회장은 엑스포 후보지인 부산항 북항을 방문했다. 부산항 북항은 147년간 부산 발전과 함께한 곳으로 내륙과 해상의 장점을 동시에 활용할 수 있는 입체적 교통망까지 갖추고 있어 엑스포 개최 최적지로 평가받고 있다.
신동빈 회장은 조유장 2030엑스포 추진본부장과 엑스포 홍보관과 후보지를 둘러보며 30개국 대사들에게 부산의 매력과 엑스포 유치 역량을 홍보했다.
