LG Chem announced on the 10th that it will supply cathode materials to Toyota Motor’s North American battery production line.
On the 6th, LG Chem signed a long-term contract with TEMA, Toyota Motor Company’s North American production technology subsidiary, to supply cathode materials worth 2.8 trillion won. The contract period runs until 2030.
Toyota announced plans to invest 8 trillion yen (72 trillion won) by 2030 to produce 30 types of electric vehicles and its batteries and sell 3.5 million electric cars annually.
LG Chem Vice Chairman Shin Hak-cheol said, “We will solidify our position as a leader in comprehensive battery materials based on a stable supply chain that responds to the global market.”

■LG화학 "토요타 美 배터리 공장에 2.8조 규모 양극재 공급"
LG화학이 토요타(Toyota Motor)의 북미 배터리 생산 라인에 양극재를 공급한다고 10일 밝혔다.
LG화학은 지난 6일 토요타 자동차 북미 생산기술 담당 법인 TEMA와 2조 8000억원 규모의 양극재를 장기 공급하기로 계약을 맺었다. 계약 기간은 오는 2030년까지다.
토요타는 2030년까지 8조엔(72조원)을 투입해 30종의 전기차와 자체 배터리를 생산하고 연간 전기차 350만대를 판매한다는 계획을 발표한 바 있다.
LG화학 신학철 부회장은 "글로벌 시장에 대응하는 안정적인 공급망을 바탕으로 종합 전지 소재 리더 기업으로서의 지위를 공고히 할 것”이라고 전했다.
