CERAGEM announced on the 24th that it, along with a joint research team from Clinical(a clinical research institute) and KAIST, presented research results on measuring the thermal effect of spinal medical devices at the 76th APS DFD(American Physical Society Division of Fluid Dynamics) conference. To develop next-generation healthcare technology, the 'Future Healthcare Research Center' was opened in 2021 and is jointly operated with KAIST.

This announcement results from ongoing joint research by Professor Hyun-jin Kim's research team at KAIST and CERAGEM Clinical at the Future Healthcare Research Center. It features a new calculation method that considers the interaction between human tissue and blood flow in the body's heat flow.

In this study, the joint research team developed a new multi-scale calculation method that combines the one-dimensional advection-diffusion equation and the three-dimensional heat transfer equation. This method overcomes the limitations of existing biological heat models, which made accurate calculations difficult due to the complexity of human tissues and blood vessels.

CERAGEM explains that using various scales of blood vessels can help to more clearly understand the complex interactions between blood and tissues in the human body.

Based on this joint research, Ceragem plans to measure the effects of heat from spinal medical devices on the human body more closely and actively reflect this in developing differentiated heat technology and advancing products.

A CERAGEM Clinical official said, "The newly developed multi-scale calculation method will enable more accurate measurement of the thermal effect of spinal medical devices."
