Over the past three months, Some passengers have found foreign objects in Asiana Airlines' in-flight meals.

According to the airline industry, on the 7th, a passenger on Asiana Airlines flight OZ752 departing Singapore Changi Airport and heading to Incheon International Airport on the 15th of last month suffered damage to his teeth from a foreign object that appeared to be a piece of stone while eating a bibimbap in-flight meal.

The passenger said, "I ate cucumber (which came out as a garnish) first before mixing the bibimbap, and then I chewed a stone that wasn't small."

Asiana Airlines explained that an investigation is underway, such as requesting a foreign substance analysis from a local company.

Previously, on May 20, broken pieces of a plate were found in the in-flight meal salad of Asiana Airlines flight OZ754 from Manila to Incheon in the Philippines. This salad was also an in-flight meal provided by a local Filipino company.

On April 16, on Asiana Airlines flight OZ231 from Honolulu, Hawaii, to Incheon, a passenger eating bibimbap, which Asiana Airlines provided as an in-flight meal, chewed foreign objects and damaged three teeth. Bibimbap was made by a local in-flight meal manufacturer in Hawaii and supplied to Asiana Airlines.

Asiana Airlines said, "We are investigating how foreign substances were found in the in-flight meal," and said, "We will strengthen management and supervision of overseas catering companies."

■아시아나항공 기내식서 이물질 검출, 4~6월 세 건 발생

최근 3개월 사이 아시아나항공 기내식에서 이물질이 잇따라 나왔다.

7일 항공업계에 따르면 지난달 15일 싱가포르 창이공항을 출발해 인천국제공항으로 향하는 아시아나항공 OZ752편을 이용한 한 승객은 비빔밥 기내식을 먹다 돌 조각으로 보이는 이물질 때문에 치아에 손상을 입었다.

해당 승객은 "비빔밥을 비비기 전에 (고명으로 나온) 오이를 먼저 먹다가 작지 않은 돌을 씹었다"며 "치아 끝이 깨져서 치과에 세 차례 방문해 치료받았고, 아직도 이가 시린 증상이 있다"고 했다.

아시아나항공은 현지 업체에 이물질 분석을 의뢰하는 등 조사가 진행 중이라고 설명했다.

앞서 지난 5월 20일에는 필리핀 마닐라발 인천행 아시아나항공 OZ754편 기내식 샐러드에서 깨진 접시 조각이 나왔다. 이 샐러드 역시 필리핀 현지 업체가 제공한 기내식이었다.

또 지난 4월 16일 미국 하와이 호놀룰루발 인천행 아시아나항공 OZ231편에서는 기내식으로 제공된 비빔밥을 먹던 승객이 이물질을 씹어 치아 3개가 손상되는 사고가 있었다. 비빔밥은 하와이 현지 기내식 제조업체가 만들어 아시아나항공에 공급한 것이었다.

아시아나항공은 "기내식 이물질 발견 경위에 대해서는 조사 중"이라며 "해외 케이터링 업체에 대한 관리·감독을 강화하겠다"고 했다.
